5 Ways to Get Motivated this Week

We are all born geniuses. However, only some of really attain the status. Have you ever wondered why? A major chunk of this has to do with losing out on motivation to play to our peak abilities.  Life is not always roses and rainbows. We have something challenging our motivation every single day, right from having to get out of bed in the morning to battling uncomfortable situations. Keeping up with the drive on a day-to-day basis seems like a herculean task and cannot be accomplished in a day. It’s ultimately about adopting a lifestyle that ensures we harness our motivation and maintain it on a consistent basis. Here are a handful sure-fire ways to get that motivation up and going.

Figure out your purpose

We often find ourselves coasting on autopilot, going where life takes us. Months and years later, we are filled with regret about things we didn’t do. It is thus imperative that we step back for a moment, breathe, and revisit goals. Then draw up a strategy to work them out because this is what puts everything in context and provides a direction in life.  It keeps us from getting lost and drives us to push forward.

Start with what you have NOW

NOW is the time to go out there and do what you were meant to do! There is no perfect day or time to do something. Sadly, we wait for the right moment where the resources and the enthusiasm are in place and for a lot of us, that day almost never comes. Whatever it is that we want in life, we need to be going for it right now. Everything starts to work out along the way and we get to our goals, even if it’s one small step at a time.

Don’t compare yourself to others

No we are not saying ignore what others do. Use them as benchmarks so you know where you stand, the direction you can take, and how you can do what you are doing better, by deconstructing their technique and adapting it to yourself. Comparison to others only discourages and fills us with regret, envy and disappointment, more often than not. The best way to get motivated is look back and see how far you have come, review it, and work toward trying to be the best version of yourself.

Know how some people just exude an air of positivity that is infectious and draws us toward them? Our environment and the people that we are surrounded with deeply influences who we are and what our outlook toward life is. Hanging out with people who have a zest for life can certainly instill a similar sense of energy in others, so has been proved by several scientific studies and drive motivation to higher levels.

Have fun while you’re at it

Life can get dull and boring.  Adding an element of fun to your tasks will keep your spirits and motivate you to get through with them. It’s as simple as that!
